Since 2014; with the exception of 2015, and 2018 it has become an annual tradition at the Trinidad and Tobago Performing Arts Network to memorialize both the celebrated and unsung heroes of T&T’s culture and performing arts community, who passed away within the respective years.
Our last tribute, which retroactively included those we lost in 2018, honored the contributions of 34 persons to our performing arts landscape. These included: Dr. Anne Osbourne, Mavis Lee Wah, Gregory Singh, Dr. Winston Bailey, Ken Professor Philmore, Edwin Erminy Bayley, Raymond Choo Kong, Mustapha Matura and Malcolm Frederick to name a few. So moving was this tribute that it was picked up for broadcast on one of the National Television Channels – TTT.
As 2020 is coming to a close, we wish to once again honor the departed and memorialize the contributions they have made to our growing industry, and would like to be as thorough as we can.
The global pandemic COVID-19 has made it especially difficult for many of us to say farewell to our loved ones this year, so we are really hoping this year’s tribute is truly special and inclusive. We are therefore reaching out to the creative community and the general public at large to help us remember those who who took their final curtain call this year.
