Dance Beryl Dance! The Little Carib Theatre Celebrates 75th Anniversary

Folk Culture and dance takes center stage as The Little Carib Theatre and Folk House celebrates its 75th anniversary with their Gala Fundraiser “Dance Beryl Dance.” On Saturday 4th November, 2023 at 6:00pm, the theatre will host an unforgettable, indulgent evening celebrating the institution and founder’s legacy and invaluable contribution to the cultural landscape of Trinidad and Tobago.

Dr. Beryl “La Belle Rosette” McBurnie

Founded in 1948 by the late dance legend Beryl McBurnie, The Little Carib Theatre and Folk House was the first permanent folk-dance company and theatre in Trinidad. Described as the mecca of West Indian folk dance, ‘the Carib’ remains the only of its kind in the region.

This Gala is also being held in celebration of the birth anniversary of McBurnie, who was born on November 2nd, and is the culmination of a year long series of smaller events and festivities.

This packed, dance-centric programme is intended to pay homage to our folk dance roots, and evolution of The Little Carib Theatre. The evening will be hosted by the ever entertaining Cecilia Salazar, and boasts an spectacular cast, featuring the melodic vocals of Krisson “Seraphim” Joseph and Band, and energetic dance performances by the Malick Folk Performing Company, The Astor Johnson Repertory Dance Theatre, Continuum Dance Project and Lil Angels of Dance. Patrons will also receive a complimentary drink, wine; beer, or rum, upon entry, and on sale will be custom, artisan chocolates crafted by Cocobelle specifically for the anniversary celebrations.

Tickets for this must see event are priced at $300 per person and can be purchased at The Little Carib Theatre and Folk House – Mondays – Fridays between 9:00am and 1:30pm, at The Lost Tribe Mas Camp or online at islandetickets.com/event/DanceBerylDance.
