NDATT to hold AGM on November 25th

The National Drama Association of Trinidad and Tobago (NDATT) has announced that its upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) is scheduled for Saturday, November 25, 2023, commencing at 10 am. The event will take place at the Helen May Johnstone Room, Queen’s Hall, 1-3 St. Ann’s Road, Port of Spain.

This year, the AGM holds particular significance as a Biennial General Meeting. At a meeting of this nature, the current members of the Executive Committee will vacate their offices, allowing for the nomination and election of new candidates with interest in contributing to the association’s growth and direction, to fill these vacancies.

The AGM Agenda is as follows:

  1. Chairperson’s Opening Remarks;
  2. Receive and consider the President’s Report, Secretary’s Report and Financial Report;
  3. Fill via elections, all posts on the Executive Committee; and
  4. Open floor for member remarks.

The Executive Committee positions available for election at the AGM include such as the President, Vice President, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer, Public Relations Officer, Education Officer, and Resource Development Officer. The roles and responsibilities of these positions can be found within the NDATT Constitution.

In addition to Executive Committee positions, the AGM will also facilitate elections for the roles of Internal Auditor and two Trustees. Nominations will officially open on the day of the AGM, adhering to the association’s commitment to procedural transparency and inclusivity. Accepting nominations and voting via proxy will not be allowed at the AGM.

The NDATT advises that the participation in the elections, and voting on AGM matters is exclusively reserved for financial its members. Membership categories comprise of Students, Individuals and Companies/Groups, with the following subscription fees:

Company/Group – $100 | Individual – $25 | Student – $10

In an effort to streamline the membership process, the Executive Committee has unanimously resolved to close the membership register 30 minutes before the commencement of the AGM, a departure from the conventional practice of closure two weeks in advance. This modification aims to facilitate the inclusion of interested participants in a timely manner.

The NDATT extends a cordial invitation to all interested parties to attend the AGM, consider membership, and actively engage in the electoral process, thereby contributing to the enriching landscape of Trinidad and Tobago’s dramatic arts community.

Incorporated under Act 33 of 1989, (The National Drama Association of Trinidad and Tobago (Incorporation) Act, 1989), NDATT is a collective of professional and amateur theatre practitioners who are committed to the development of the theatre industry in T&T.

Founded in 1980 by James Lee Wah, NDATT is the first and only statutory body that represents the interest of theatre in T&T. After a seven year hiatus, the NDATT was revitalized in July of 2017 with renewed purpose to the development of theatre in T&T.
