Respected guitarist, composer, and arranger Theron Shaw presents Sankofa—a reflective and soul-stirring concert experience celebrating the enduring spirit of Trinidad and Tobago’s music. The performance takes place on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at 7.00 p.m. at Kafé Blue, Wrightson Road, Port of Spain.
Sankofa will also feature a stellar cast of musicians and friends such as Caribbean jazz vocalist Vaughnette Bigford, calypso singer Krisson Joseph, violinist Simon Browne, classical guitarist John
Hussain and saxophonist Michelle Henry.
They will be joined by Theron Shaw’s backing quartet: celebrated master percussionist Tamba Gwindi, Rodney Harris (keyboards), André Jack (electric bass), and Jonathan Hensley (drums).
Come experience Caribbean fusions and rhythms, jazz influences, and original compositions which Shaw has revisited and reimagined, with fresh elements and daring new arrangements that demonstrate his evolution as a composer and arranger, and pay homage to some of T&T’s finest such as the Mighty Shadow, Ras Shorty I, André Tanker and Len ‘Boogsie’ Sharpe.
Tickets are $200. Call 751-7623 or 477-2262 for more information. Payments will be accepted at the door on show night.
