Playwrights Workshop Trinbago (PWT) invites the public to the November instalment of their Monthly Readers Theatre Series (MRTS). Held the first Wednesday of every month. this upcoming session will feature a cold reading of ‘TRIGGER WARNING: SOMEONE DIES’ by first-time playwright Jeandon Bartholomew, on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 7:00 PM, at the Trinidad Theatre Workshop.
About the Script: On their way to Sunday dinner, engaged detectives Adewale and Adebimpe carry more than wedding jitters – they’re tasked with unearthing the truth behind their aunt’s sudden death. Between anxious relatives, shadowy suspects, and secrets buried in Port of Spain’s heat, the couple must balance family, duty, and love before time runs out.
In his own words, Bartholomew says that the idea to write this play was ‘pure ignorance.’
“I didn’t know or see a noir genre in local stories,” he shared in an interview with the T&T Performing Arts Network. “I love detective shows, books, and series. I wanted to see my people solve a crime with our version of intelligence and ridiculousness.”
About the Playwright: Jeandon Bartholomew is a dynamic creative and community builder with a Master’s in Human and Social Psychology. He teaches adult literacy with ALTA, sings as a tenor with the Marionettes Chorale, was a former manager in the restaurant industry, and supports theatre as a production assistant.
With over a decade in HR, five in customer service, and eight as an onboarding therapist for addicts, Jeandon brings heart, resilience, and dedication to every role. As Secretary of the National Drama Association of Trinidad and Tobago (NDATT), he continues to champion the arts while uplifting lives across his community.
Describing the writing process as ‘difficult but rewarding‘, Jeandon reflected, “Allowing the characters to sound like their own and not a carbon copy of everyone else in the play is a skill in and of itself. I learned a lot, and hopefully it translates well.”
When asked what he hopes will come from having his play read at PWT, he shared “Another one! No, but seriously, if I can see it become a live production, it would be fun, but if it inspires more noir local contributions, it will be perfection.”
PWT welcomed actors, playwrights, directors, producers, and the general public to attend the reading and participate in the discussion to assist the playwright in the further development of the script. The event will take place on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 7:00 PM, at the Trinidad Theatre Workshop, located at #6 Newbold Street, St Clair, Port-of-Spain. Admission Free
