Simeon Moodoo – Founding Director

Simeon Chris Moodoo, is an educator, an accomplished theatre practitioner and cultural scholar currently pursuing a MPhil in Cultural Studies at the University of the West Indies (St. Augustine Campus). With a background in Drama and Theatre Arts education within Trinidad and Tobago’s Ministry of Education since 2016, Moodoo has shared his expertise across diverse educational settings, from public to government-assisted religious schools.

His extensive involvement in Community and Educative Theatre, collaborating with renowned companies like Arts in Action (AiA), Máp Brulé, and Halqa Productions, reflects his commitment to impactful storytelling and engagement within Trinidad and Tobago’s vibrant cultural landscape.

Moodoo holds a First-Class Honours Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts and a Bachelor of Science in Sociology with a minor in International Relations, both from the University of the West Indies. His accolades as a national and regional award-winning playwright and director underscore his creative prowess and dedication to the craft.

In his capacity of the Founder and Artistic Director of Halqa Productions, a Founding Director of the Trinidad and Tobago Performing Arts Network (TTPAN), and a Director of the Holistic Learning Center, Moodoo actively contributes to the growth and development of performing arts as well as  holistic education initiatives.

His unique expertise extends to specialized skills in Kalinda (Trinidadian stick-fighting), Jab Jab/Rope Jab (whip-fighting and whip-cracking), fight choreography, and Caribbean Performance, showcasing his multifaceted talents in the realm of theatre and cultural expression.
