What started as a simple thanksgiving and birthday celebration six years ago, has now blossomed into a fusion of Caribbean cultures through music and food worthy of a bigger stage. On Sunday 31st March 2019, Gospel artistes from Trinidad, Tobago and Jamaica will unite at ‘Good Vibes: the Concert, an event hosted by Daniel Oliver Management’ at Himalaya Club, Barataria.
“I love gospel music, and in whatever I am doing put God first,” Oliver said in an interview with the Trinidad and Tobago Performing Arts Network. “The concept for this concert actually started in 2012 as a birthday gospel house party, and every year till 2016, I assigned a little money toward that, and invited persons from West Side Community Church and the Diego Martin community, as a way of giving back.”
In those times Oliver’s family, who is one part Jamaican (mother) and one part Trinidadian (father), had a Jerk Chicken and BBQ business and catered for the entire community as part of the event. “So it was like a free all inclusive,” he recalled.
“Each year I would also book one gospel artiste to perform live, and it would be ‘rel’ good vibes,” He continued. “Eventually I started getting calls from persons the media saying ‘I hear about this nice lil lime you having’ and it just kicked off from there.”
This year, to coincide with the launch of his Management Company, Good Vibes will be headlined by Tobago born, International Recording Artiste – Positive, who will perform ‘Blessing after Blessing’, ‘Two Man Army’ and other numbers from his greatest hits.
“What I like about his music is that it crosses the divide. So it’s not a matter of Christian or non Christian, it has a wide appeal.” Oliver said.
Also joining the cast from Tobago will be Multiple Award Winning Artiste – Blessed Messenger, and Jedidiah; from Trinidad – Rizon, Biblical, and Mosqkey Musiq; and from Jamaica – D.J. Zeal, Vijon and more.
Good Vibes: the Concert will be held on Sunday 31st March 2019, 6PM at Himalaya Club, located at 3rd Avenue, Barataria. Tickets cost $100.
