TTW’s School for the Arts offers Academic Support and Life Skills through Theatre

Are you interested in getting a head start on a performance career? Maybe your child lacks focus and struggles with reading and writing? Consider a new approach. Arts and performance have a proven track record in improving academic skills in children. Adults who participate in arts full time or part time generally report a higher level of satisfaction with their lives.

The School for the Arts at Trinidad Theatre Workshop is one of the oldest such programmes. Lead by Assistant Artistic Director Tyker Phillip, the School For The Arts has evolved into the best place for children, teens and adults to connect with themselves through theatre and performance. Classes begin September 15th and Registration is open. The 12-week sessions are 3 hours every Saturday.

Trinidad Theatre Workshop provides a community where people of all ages can come to train in the theatre arts. More than merely an acting school, we provide a platform for self-development. Participants are provided with the opportunity to explore who they are as performers by improving their knowledge of self and expression. Performance training is extremely beneficial for children and adults of all levels of experience and from all backgrounds.

Through rigorous training, both youth and adult students learn to express themselves, present themselves with confidence, and develop skills which will be useful both in the real world and in theatre. Students learn the basics of acting for the stage, become familiar with several play texts, explore poetry and spoken word and become exposed to professional theatre both from the inside and outside. Performing opportunities come at the end of each workshop and each student has a chance to perform and put their learning into action.
